Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team at a daycare center. As an Assistant Teacher, you will support lead educators in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow. Your role will involve assisting in educational activities, supervising children, maintaining a clean classroom, providing individual attention, and fostering social development.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing educational activities that cater to children's developmental needs.
- Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
- Provide individual attention to children requiring extra care.
- Facilitate group activities to enhance children's social skills.
- Support children with their daily routines and activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Prepare teaching materials and aids as directed.
- Participate in professional development sessions and staff meetings.
- Enforce daycare policies and disciplinary measures.
- Encourage children's creative expression through various activities.
- Assist with special needs children in a supportive manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; early childhood education coursework preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a daycare or educational setting.
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate behaviors.
- Effective communication skills with children and adults.
- Ability to assist with lesson plans and educational activities.
- Patience, flexibility, and a collaborative approach.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Strong observational and reporting skills.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for engaging children.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping.
- Commitment to continuing education in early childhood development.
- Adherence to daycare policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Pay / Schedule
Full-time and Part-time positions available
$16-19/hour based on experience
9-hour shift with a 1-hour lunch break
Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm, no weekends
