Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team at a daycare center. As an Assistant Teacher, you will support lead educators in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow. Your role will involve assisting in educational activities, supervising children, maintaining a clean classroom, providing individual attention, and fostering social development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing educational activities that cater to children's developmental needs.
  • Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
  • Provide individual attention to children requiring extra care.
  • Facilitate group activities to enhance children's social skills.
  • Support children with their daily routines and activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Prepare teaching materials and aids as directed.
  • Participate in professional development sessions and staff meetings.
  • Enforce daycare policies and disciplinary measures.
  • Encourage children's creative expression through various activities.
  • Assist with special needs children in a supportive manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; early childhood education coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a daycare or educational setting.
  • Understanding of child development and age-appropriate behaviors.
  • Effective communication skills with children and adults.
  • Ability to assist with lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a collaborative approach.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong observational and reporting skills.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for engaging children.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping.
  • Commitment to continuing education in early childhood development.
  • Adherence to daycare policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Pay / Schedule

Full-time and Part-time positions available
$16-19/hour based on experience
9-hour shift with a 1-hour lunch break
Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm, no weekends
