Job Description

Alsum Farms & Produce, Inc., a grower, packer, and shipper of potatoes & onions, is seeking a full-time dedicated and experienced Irrigation Service Supervisor to join our team! As an Irrigation Service Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating irrigation systems on our fields. This position offers a dynamic work environment that changes with the seasons, providing a variety of tasks and opportunities for growth. Your work will be instrumental in enhancing both the productivity and profitability of the agricultural sector by supporting the growth of our Healthy Grown potatoes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and operate irrigation systems on our fields during Spring through late Summer.
  • Assist in other aspects of farm operations as needed, including equipment operation, equipment maintenance, planter or hiller moves, and keeping farm storage lines running during Harvest season.
  • Perform higher level repair work in the farm shop during the Winter season.
  • Organize, plan, and order parts for the next irrigation season.
  • Travel between farms to provide irrigation system maintenance and support.
  • Use a laptop or iPad to remotely operate irrigation equipment.
  • Independently monitor the irrigation needs of assigned crops and take necessary actions.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and working with 480-voltage equipment required.
  • Post-secondary electrical education is preferred.
  • Prior experience working on a farm and familiarity with farm operations are essential.
  • Knowledge of other farm equipment and machinery is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills for irrigation system maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using laptops or iPads for remote operation of irrigation equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a seasonal business and take on short-term roles during the off-season.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software as a user.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to drive a manual truck is required.
