Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join the Hornblower - City Experiences team in Norfolk, VA. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to ensure the smooth operation of the back-of-the-house on our cruises. Your responsibilities will include managing kitchen staff, maintaining high standards of quality and sanitation, participating in guest service activities, and assisting in various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Act as the on-duty kitchen manager for cruises, ensuring adherence to procedures and sanitation standards.
- Recruit, train, and schedule kitchen staff efficiently.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop team growth plans and incentive programs.
- Ensure guest service excellence and resolve service issues effectively.
- Monitor and control kitchen operation costs and inventory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of kitchen experience in a full-service/banquet, high-volume setting.
- Prior experience in kitchen staff management.
- ServSafe Certified with formal culinary training or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
