Job Description
American Family Insurance Claims Services (AFICS, Inc.) is seeking a skilled Large Loss Property Field Claims Adjuster to join our team in California. This lead-level role involves investigating and maintaining complex property/casualty claims, determining liability, securing information, arranging appraisals, and settling claims. The role requires independence, competency, and the ability to handle various types of claims, specializing in liability, property, or catastrophe claims as needed. The successful candidate will work remotely and travel locally in California, handling homeowner property field claims.
Primary Accountabilities
- Investigate high-exposure claims and determine the origin and cause by contacting relevant parties.
- Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) and handle claims in good faith.
- Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate claims.
- Provide customer support, interpret policies, and make independent decisions.
- Mentor and support less experienced adjusters.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Handle 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims efficiently across operating territories.
- Provide customer-driven solutions and efficiently handle complex claims.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of policies, endorsements, and claim-handling processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Xactimate experience.
- 5+ years of field property personal lines claims handling.
- Experience with claims over $50,000.
Licenses
- Valid driver's license and state-specific property casualty claims licensing.
Travel Requirements
- Company fleet vehicle provided with up to 10% expected travel.
- Possible catastrophe travel up to 75%.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to ascend/descend various structures and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Working in different environments including confined spaces and customer locations.
