Large Loss Property Field Claims Adjuster (CA)

Job Description

We are looking to hire a Large Loss Property Field Claims Adjuster to join our team at American Family Insurance. This lead-level role involves investigating and managing complex property/casualty claims, determining liability, reviewing coverages, and settling claims. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise and independence in all areas of claim adjustment activities, reporting directly to the Claim Manager.

Primary Accountabilities

• Investigate high-exposure claims, assessing liability, coverage, and damages.
• Participate in High Damage Reviews to tackle coverage issues.
• Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under various policy types.
• Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate settlements.
• Provide informative and timely responses to customer inquiries.
• Make independent decisions and mentor less experienced adjusters.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

• Handle complex 1st and 3rd party multi-line claims efficiently.
• Provide customer-driven solutions while demonstrating extensive claims knowledge.
• Proficient in interpreting policies, leases, and contract coverages.
• Experience with Xactimate software is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in field property claims exceeding $50,000.
• Ability to travel locally 4-5 days a week in California.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• State-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
