Job Description

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Associate in Health Services Research to join the Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. The successful candidate will focus on conducting health services research with a special emphasis on high need, high-cost patients (HNHC). Responsibilities include identifying HNHC patients in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercially insured populations, incorporating individual and community-level social determinants of health data to define HNHC patients, aligning and evaluating care models for HNHC patient groups, and applying the HNHC patient framework to help healthcare organizations improve delivery. The postdoctoral associate will work under the supervision of Dr. Rainu Kaushal, Department Chair, and Nanette Latiman Distinguished Professor, in collaboration with Dr. Yonkang Zang, Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate should be a quantitative researcher with experience analyzing large health insurance claims-based analytic files. The Department offers significant data resources, including nationally representative Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance claims data, the INSIGHT Clinical Research Network, and a state-of-the-art computing environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD in health services research, health economics, health policy, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting research using administrative data.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Interest in aging research.
