Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Thermal Project Engineer to join ZEVx, Inc.'s Product Engineering department. As a Senior Thermal Project Engineer, you will lead a team of Design Release Engineers in the design, development, validation, and support of thermal hardware for our products. You will collaborate with various cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of release packages and track and resolve open issues effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and validation testing of thermal system components within the Mobile Charging Unit platform.
  • Manage an agile team of Design Release Engineers to execute product development and engineering documentation across multiple projects.
  • Define and document requirements for the thermal system, interpreting and communicating simulation results for optimization.
  • Perform design validation plans, collaborate with cross-functional product teams and vendors, troubleshoot validation issues, and support product launch and pre-production builds.
  • Identify opportunities for cost and mass optimization, travel for occasional supplier visits, and mentor early-career Thermal Systems Engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (required) or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the automotive industry with strong technical knowledge in thermal sciences related to vehicle HVAC systems, motor drive/inverter applications, and battery systems.
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, specify thermal management components based on requirements, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in all stages of the product lifecycle, familiarity with battery-based EV charging systems, and proficiency in thermal analytics and simulations.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, RSS tolerancing, FMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, DFA, DFM, APQP, and change management processes.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX/Team Center and experience signing off on related drawings and engineering documentation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Occasional climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, lifting/pushing/carrying items up to 50 pounds, exposure to various conditions like wet/humid, extreme heat/cold, loud noise, etc.
