Job Description

Clean Harbors is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and company policies. This position involves working both indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, and customer sites, and assisting with lab packs, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and lab moves. It is a customer-facing position, working at customer sites daily.

Recruiting Pay Range: $20- $25

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
  • Perform inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
  • Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Conduct projects/jobs according to site-specific Federal, State, and local regulations and health and safety plans.
  • Operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, and federal requirements, observing all corporate environmental health and safety guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to meet physical job requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
  • Successful completion of a background check, drug test, and physical assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science.
  • Previous experience in Environmental Services (remediation, abatement, emergency spill response, etc.).
