Job Description

Nesco Resource is seeking an experienced CNC Set Up Technician for our 1st shift. The CNC Setup Technician will be responsible for efficiently setting up and preparing CNC equipment, including Swiss machines, lathes, mill-turn machines, vertical and horizontal mills, and 5th axis machines. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our precision manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the setup and tooling of various CNC equipment, including Swiss machines, lathes, mill-turn machines, vertical and horizontal mills, and 5th axis machines.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and setup sheets to ensure accurate setup and machining processes.
  • Install and align tooling, fixtures, and workpieces in accordance with job requirements.
  • Calibrate and adjust machine settings, feeds, and speeds to optimize machining processes.
  • Conduct test runs to ensure proper machine performance and part quality, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with programmers, machinists, and production teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve setup and tooling issues, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs on CNC equipment as needed.
  • Document setup procedures, adjustments made, and any issues encountered during the setup process.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during setup and operation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance setup processes and efficiency.
  • Train and mentor junior CNC operators and setup technicians as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or certifications in CNC machining and setup are preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Set Up Technician or similar role in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of CNC equipment setup, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and setup sheets.
  • Proficiency in selecting, installing, and aligning tooling, fixtures, and workpieces.
  • Knowledge of various CNC controls and programming is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Prior experience with Swiss machines, lathes, mill-turn machines, and various mill configurations is a plus.
