Job Description
Join Fibertek, Inc. as a Firmware Engineer and contribute to the development of cutting-edge laser and electro-optic systems for aerospace applications. Collaborate with small R&D teams in Herndon, VA to develop, verify, and upgrade firmware in electro-optical systems, supporting projects for NASA, DoD, and commercial clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain firmware for Fibertek's electro-optic systems.
- Utilize expertise in VHDL and experience with Xilinx/Microchip FPGAs.
- Work on high-speed memory interfaces and test bench development.
- Collaborate with hardware designers and use schematics for firmware development.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant firmware development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in VHDL, SPI, I2C, UART, and GTX/GTH Transceivers.
- Experience with DDR3, FPGA development tools (Vivado & Libero), and lab instruments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Bonus Areas
- Experience in Hi-Rel/Space programs and signal processing.
- Familiarity with Spacewire, Gigabit Ethernet, and Aurora interfaces.
- Knowledge in developing code for microcontrollers and FPGA embedded cpu cores.
- Proficiency in IP cores and GUI-based test software development.
