Job Description
Corewell Health is seeking a Lead Medical Technologist to join our team at the Dearborn Campus. This Full Time Day shift position in the Blood Bank involves assisting in the supervision of the laboratory department, including daily operations, quality control, instrument maintenance, and staff training. The role requires coordination of quality assurance activities, process improvement initiatives, and participation in laboratory projects and committees.
Responsibilities
- Assist in daily department operations, personnel functions, and training activities.
- Coordinate quality assurance, quality control, and proficiency testing in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee instrument troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical procedures.
- Develop and maintain procedure manuals, workflows, and policies.
- Administer employee orientation, education, and competency assessment.
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures.
Standard Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates must meet educational and training requirements, possess work experience in a laboratory setting, and hold relevant certifications such as ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist.
Working Conditions
This position involves considerable physical effort, including walking and standing for extended periods, within a clinical laboratory environment working with hazardous materials.
