Medical Assistant II, Internal Medicine, Burlington

Job Description
Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is now offering up to a $1,500 signing bonus for this position. The Medical Assistant II is responsible for delivering high-quality and safe clinical care, including assisting with patient care, operational flow, and performing clerical and clinical duties. In addition to typical medical assistant duties, the MA II acts as a team lead, an EPIC expert, a mentor/preceptor to other MAs, and assists the practice with special projects and additional quality initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a first point of contact for basic Epic related questions and assists with troubleshooting Epic related issues
- Acts as a first-level practice resource for day-to-day process questions and new practice initiatives, problem-solving basic issues, and maintaining regulatory compliance
- Precepts new Medical Assistants and mentors and trains new staff on practice policies and procedures
- Performs all functions and responsibilities of as a Medical Assistant and mentors and coaches other Medical Assistants
Clinical Considerations and Decision Making
Responsibilities include providing safe patient care, participating in a culturally competent plan of care, delivering specific care based on the patient's age, and caring for patients as delegated by the provider, RN, or LPN within scope of practice and competence.
Collaborative Relationship
Establishes collaborative relationships, participates in and supports the educational plan for patients and families.
Clinical Guidance
Demonstrates appropriate behavior by adhering to unit policies and procedures, and fulfills role in regulatory compliance and readiness. Provides and maintains patient safety in the environment of care and fulfills role as a responsive and supportive team member.
Clinical/Direct patient care
Performs various clinical procedures including but not limited to phlebotomy, urine tests, finger stick blood sugar tests, and wound care. Also administers immunizations and injections based on written provider orders as allowed by the practice license and participates in unit-based Quality Improvement activities.
Non-Clinical/Indirect patient care
Organizes and prioritizes daily work, participates in huddles to anticipate, understand, and address the daily needs of patients and providers, prepares supportive documentation for scheduled appointments and procedures, and manages provider In Basket folders per department standards.
Organizational Responsibilities
Adheres to Lahey Health policies and clinical protocols, complies with behavioral expectations, and participates in and successfully completes mandatory education. Incorporates the Lahey Health Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and goals into daily activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA)
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Medical Assistant Certification required upon promotion and maintained; Experience: Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Assistant with a minimum of one year as a Medical Assistant at Lahey
