Summer Program Director, Galileo X Camp

Job Description

Galileo X Camp Directors are key members of our field team at Galileo Learning. In this role, you will assume overall leadership of one of our summer day camp locations providing expanded learning opportunities to students in under-resourced schools, many of whom are English learners, eligible for free or reduced meals, or foster youth. You will partner directly with schools and districts to provide equitable access to our flagship Galileo programming. Camp Directors manage and coach staff, seamlessly oversee day-to-day operations, and create a joy-filled summer camp culture.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll be responsible for all aspects of daily camp operations and run an efficient and joy-filled program. You’ll flex your creative problem-solving skills as you juggle competing priorities and anticipate the needs of your camp community with agility and positivity.
  • You’ll collaborate and cultivate a team of 10-50+ summer staff, coaching them toward success. You’ll be a supportive manager with high expectations, providing feedback on classroom instruction and behavior management, while thoughtfully pushing your team to greatness in ways that have a ripple effect.

As the face of Galileo in the community you serve, you’ll work closely with the school and/or district personnel on-site to support emerging needs at camp. You will consider parent and partner perspectives in everything you do. You’ll wow our school partners with your care for camp facilities while consistently delivering exceptional service to our camper families.
  • You’ll leverage existing (and carefully crafted) training and resources to masterfully manage your time and responsibilities, efficiently tracking your workflow details and calendar in the pre-season and throughout the summer.
  • With support from our People Ops team, you’ll manage compliance processes, implement company policies, and uphold our camp safety standards. From supporting your team’s onboarding completion and approving weekly timecards to daily site safety checks, you will meticulously execute and uphold company policies.
  • In collaboration with our headquarters team, you’ll ensure camp has all the necessary resources and supplies to run smoothly; developing effective systems for managing inventory and materials, keeping classrooms organized, and using your facility space to its full potential.
  • You will ensure all campers have safe and joyous experiences at camp through coaching and supporting staff with engaging students with diverse needs and working directly with students and families to support emerging needs
