As a Systems Development Engineer, ADC2S, you will have the opportunity to engineer and operate some of the most complex distributed systems in the world. This role will involve building and supporting fully managed services, such as Lambda, Simple Workflow, Step Functions, and internal services that underpin our cloud offerings. You will play a key part in abstracting the hard problems of distributed systems, allowing our customers to focus on their business challenges.

We are seeking smart, enthusiastic, and creative engineers with a solid background in solving complex problems across software development, systems engineering, and systems security disciplines. In this role, you will identify ways to enhance customer experiences through tool improvements, process enhancements, and documentation. Additionally, you will collaborate with a highly motivated and talented team, focusing on improving tool usage in both isolated AWS regions and in the AWS GovCloud regions.

This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance, and the selected candidate will need to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or equivalent for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and operate complex distributed systems.
  • Support fully managed services, such as Lambda, Simple Workflow, and Step Functions.
  • Abstract complex distributed system problems for customer benefit.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance customer experiences through tool improvements and process enhancements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby).
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
