Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to use the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems within Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.

The Systems Development Engineer will be responsible for engineering and operating the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure to build a better world for future generations. Join our specialized group of service teams responsible for building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, working with the U.S. Intelligence Community.

The Serverless team in Seattle is looking for talented engineers who can help create the massive scale and powerful new programming paradigms that our customers need to be successful. We are looking for smart, enthusiastic, and creative engineers with a solid background in solving hard problems in software development, systems engineering, and systems security disciplines.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience.
  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
